My last post about OWS was just to spread the word. Now that the word has clearly been spread. I just have a few comments.
1.) When they first started I was so happy that it was happening and I was so sad that I didn't live in NY.
2.) Now that it's pretty much a national protest, I don't really care to be apart of it. I love the idea, but I really don't see what I, or the rest of the 99% will gain from it. I am ALL ABOUT protesting/fighting the power. I'm almost certain I was a black panther (or at least a wannabe) in my past life. I love the idea of revolution. I love the idea of evolving. On the other hand, results are important.
It seem's as though people view protestors as unemployed hippies with nothing better to do. Probably because the media is portraying them that way. A facebook friend of mine really thinks these protestors are fighting the police. He practically wrote an essay as a "status" explaining why the protestors have become "band-wagoning teenagers" Which isn't totally untrue. I didn't agree with said person's idea that protestors are purposely fight police. I don't think any of them came armed and ready for battle. Police officers have more of a knack for abusing their power then random "hippie protestors". I think they just want to be heard. Now that we hear them, they're really not saying anything. That's my problem. Now that we see them, what's next?
Anyway, I think these protestors' intentions are good, but they are clearly misunderstood. What will actually come of this? Probably nothing. Politics are a joke, Money is god in their eyes, and I have one life to live.

I just want more people to know that it's even happening. I think it's a great idea and I really wish I was able to participate. I'm overwhelmed. I've been aware but I've ignored it because it's depressing. The more information I have the more I feel helpless. The truth causes paralyzing fear and depression. It caused me to be aloof and inactive. It caused me to shrug my shoulders everytime I watched the news. It allowed me to believe that voting was all I could do. I may never live to see a real change, but it has to start somewhere. I have to be apart of that change and if spreading information is the only way I can be apart right now then that's what I'll do.

So last week tuesday a man died from a tooth infection because he couldn't afford his medication. The man was supposed to get his tooth removed, but was unemployed and couldn't afford it, so he decided not to have the procedure done. The symptoms get worse, he's rushed to emergency room and is perscribed antibiotics & pain medication. He couldn't afford both so he chose the pain medication, which then lead to his untimely death.
I'm assuming this guy made these terrible decisions not only because of this wallet, but because he underestimated the severity of his tooth infection. That's the only thing that can explain why someone would choose pain medication over antibiotics. When's the last time you heard somebody dying from this? I've had surgery before, and only taken a few of the anti biotics and been fine. I didn't even need the entire perscription. This guy didn't even have the surgery and still died.
I didn't want to post this because I'm honestly looking for more positive news. I'm basically searching for a needle in a haystack.
I decided to post this because I don't have insurance and I've had the same back ache for a while. It's possible that there could be something wrong with me, but I can't even afford to get checked out. I work but I don't get benefits because it's part-time. I'm a 20 year student who can't afford to get sick, let alone working-class adults with no help. (or 8 kids bouncing around to help collect gov't benefits)
I really don't know how I feel about stories like these. My rebellious, justice loving "super ego" wants to riot, while my "id" wants to quit school (and caring about anything positive in general) to become a stripper. Maybe use the money to invent something or invest in something worthwhile. (since its obviously not my education right?) In the meantime I'm in a lack-luster, hopeless funk until I at least feel like anything can change.

While making my usual internet 'rounds', I stumbled upon a story informing me that for years florida drivers license information has been sold to companies for "legal" "business" purposes. I don't know one florida driver who knows this exist and i'm angry about it. How are other people profiting from my information without my knowledge or permission? How is this perfectly legal?
Tampa news station WPTV was told by the company that they "provide the data to businesses who want to verify their customers' information" and used examples such as "a hospital trying to tack down a patient whose address might have changed, or a business trying to reach a customer to notify them of a product recalls". Since not too many people even know this is happening, who's making sure that they are really using it for "legal" "business" purposes? Does anybody really "police" this?
I call bullshit. Point Blank Period. Sounds like one of the many "white lies" that continues to make the world go 'round.
How do you feel?

Recently, in a 5-4 ruling, the supreme court required only brand name drug companies to revise the warning labels on their drugs. Since 75% of perscriptions written are for genric versions of name brand drugs, most people will be uninformed on newly discovered risks.
If you haven't noticed, liberals are losing right now.
Being uninformed is too expensive.
Wasn't this preventable?
How are you or someone close to you affected by this?
Why do I feel like this is going to turn into some tragedy that will then be ignored and covered up by some Lebron nonsense?
"We The People" are still the last to be protected, served, acknowledged. How do you feel?
